KUCHING, Sept 17: Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE) is now opening applications for the appointment of invigilators starting with the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination this year.
This comes following Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek’s commitment to alleviate the workload of teachers.
“Therefore, for the first time ever, the appointment of invigilators starting with the SPM examination in 2023 has been opened to the public.
“People who are interested and meet the criteria are invited to apply as volunteer invigilators of the SPM examination in 2023,” the ministry said in a social media post today.
The applicant must be a Malaysian citizen between the age of 18 and 65, hold at least an SPM or equivalent qualification, have a clean record with no pending court action, and have their own transportation.
There are five applicant categories for the invigilator post, namely Category 1 (retired government employees under the education service officer scheme), Category 2 (students from public and private higher education institutions, teacher training institutes, foundation or matriculation programme graduates), Category 3 (teachers from state religious secondary schools, private schools, Mara junior science colleges), Category 4 (government contract employees or contract workers), and Category 5 (non-government employees, retired government employees, and private sector employees).
An allowance would be paid based on the days of service with the current payment rate for non-civil servants.
Applications are open from Sept 12 to Oct 31, 2023.
Applicants should fill in the online form which would later be forwarded to the respective State Education Director, at https://bit.ly/44KmnxL.
Successful applicants who are shortlisted as volunteer candidates will be called for an interview session at the respective district education offices.
Meanwhile, those who do not receive any response after one month from the application deadline would be deemed unsuccessful.
