KUCHING, July 14: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sarawak, will set up a temporary service counter at the council’s headquarters in Jalan Padungan from July 15 to 16 to assist eligible members of the public with applications for the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS).

The temporary counter will operate for two days only, from 9am to 3pm on both days, offering assistance and guidance to applicants seeking to register under the government’s diesel subsidy programme.

MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the initiative reflects the council’s commitment to providing people-centred services while supporting government efforts to enhance public service delivery.

“Through this collaboration with KPDN Sarawak, MBKS is providing a convenient location and the necessary assistance to ensure eligible applicants can complete their SKDS applications smoothly and efficiently,” he said in a statement today.

Wee said MBKS would continue to work closely with government agencies whenever necessary to ensure services remain accessible and beneficial to the community.

“Our priority has always been to find practical solutions that benefit the people. We hope this temporary counter will save applicants time, provide greater convenience, and make the application process easier,” he said.

He encouraged eligible applicants to take advantage of the two-day service and to bring along all required supporting documents to facilitate the application process.

The SKDS initiative is part of the government’s efforts to ensure targeted diesel subsidies reach eligible recipients while promoting a more efficient and transparent subsidy distribution system.
