KUCHING, July 24: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has discouraged the public from making inter-district travel.

This follows the increasing number of positive cases recorded in the past few days in Kuching and Samarahan districts.

SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the public is not encouraged to make inter-district travel unless for special cases.

“Inter-district travel is just for certain cases.

“Those include official duties, essential services workers, the death of close family members, critically ill family members and for health check-up,” he said during a press conference on the State Covid-19 updates today.

Uggah who is Deputy Chief Minister added the enrolment for pre-university students into University Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) was postponed until a later date after discussion with Unimas.

He said SDMC has also extended the reopening of SJK Chung Hua, Siburan which is a school located in the Padawan district until August 3.
