Public Accounts Committee to inspect projects personally to ensure prudent spending

KUCHING, June 22: The Sarawak Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has decided to go to the ground to check on at least one development project to ensure prudent spending and strict financial discipline.

The 54th PAC Meeting was held on June 21 to 22 at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex.

During the meeting, the PAC planned to go down to the ground and visit at least one development project in Sarawak this year. Among ongoing projects which will be visited is the Bario Rice Industry Development Project.


PAC chairman Razaili Gapor who is the Beting Mero assemblyman congratulated the newly appointed PAC members, namely Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, Kabong assemblyman Mohamad Chee Kadir, Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How, Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang, Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh and Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin as well as the new PAC secretary, Pele Peter Tinggom who is also the DUN Secretary .

Razaili also announced the addition of a new ex-officio PAC member, namely Sarawak Integrity and Ombudsman Unit (Unions) director Adana Jed.

PAC members were also reminded of the importance of responsibility to ensure that public money is spent prudently and achieves the objectives set for each expenditure or project that has been approved by the Sarawak and federal governments. — DayakDaily
