KUCHING, Aug 20: PRS Youth chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan revealed party president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing is looking forward to receiving proposals for candidates to represent Sri Aman.
“The party president, Tan Sri Dr James had hinted to the community leaders to propose names to the likes and favour of the people in Sri Aman as a whole for him to vet and evaluate prior to submitting to the CM (Chief Minister) for endorsement,” he disclosed, in reference to Sri Aman MP Masir Kujat who left PRS to join Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) in March 2019.
The Balai Ringin assemblyman added that the people of Sri Aman were the ones who suffered due to this unprincipled move because they were deprived of annual Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), Minor Rural Project (MRP) and agriculture grants totaling RM8 million.
As such, PRS is now waiting on the emergence of a new candidate to go against the opposition in the upcoming 12th state election (PRN12).
“And this is where support from the women’s group is very significant,” Snowdan told the some 500 participants at a “Berandau” session yesterday in Balai Ringin yesterday.
He also emphasised the great influence PRS women had, especially on the women voters who constituted 49 per cent of total voters in Balai Ringin.
Nevertheless, he urges members of the party and its voters to put their trust in the PRS president and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to decide on the candidate selection based on their good conscience. — DayakDaily
