KUCHING, Jan 20: The proposed new airport in Tanjung Embang is expected to address a significant logistical issue by ensuring that aircraft can take off and land entirely within Malaysian airspace, says Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang.

This strategic location eliminates the need to navigate Indonesian airspace, which would become a challenge if the Sarawak government opted to construct the airport in Matang.

Gira also noted that the new airport is anticipated to bring numerous benefits, including job creation and increased tourist arrivals to the Samarahan division and its surrounding areas.

“The development of the airport will be accompanied by improvements to local infrastructure, such as roads and public transportation,” he said in a statement today.

He added that the airport’s proximity to the upcoming deep-sea port would help facilitate smoother logistics and trade operations. – DayakDaily
