KUCHING, Dec 22: Putting a smile on the faces of the people and bringing early Christmas cheer was what Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) did at the Kubah Ria Sunday market here today.
SUPP Satok chairman Goh Leng Yew and vice chairman Shankar R.P. Asnani led a group of about 20 members to distribute Santa hats and goodies to traders and visitors at the market.
“Christmas is an occasion to share festive joy with all walks of life, regardless of race or religion, and that is why we are here today to create that mood and celebrate this auspicious occasion.
“Bringing the communities together is a lot better than tearing them apart. When we bring the society together, we promote a harmonious Sarawak,” Shankar told reporters at the event.
He added that SUPP will not overlook the importance of reaching out and extending love to the society.
He expressed content that the distribution Christmas goodies was well received by the Malays, Dayaks and Chinese traders.
“All of them actually put on the Christmas hats and started wishing their fellow stall sellers and customers Merry Christmas,” Shankar said. — DayakDaily
