MIRI, Feb 26: Project consultants must maintain a high work ethic while doing project evaluation so that the rakyat can be assured of satisfactory project completion, says Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“We want the rakyat to enjoy the benefits from the completed development projects, so follow the right procedures and avoid corruption,” he said.
Abang Johari said this on Wednesday at the closing of ‘Majlis Amanat Perdana Integriti 2020’ (MAPI 2020) held at a leading hotel here where nearly 2,000 participants attended.
“I am a transparent person, when you do open tender for development projects, you must be honest, evaluate the project in accordance with the right procedures, because at the end of the day, when the projects are not done well, the rakyat will blame the government,” he said.
Abang Johari was responding to some feedback pertaining to construction projects involving bridges, basic amenities such as clean water supply and electricity connections that were not up to standard.
“As an appointed project consultant, you must do your part, because you are accountable to certify projects, make sure that the job delivers,” he said. —DayakDaily
