KUCHING, March 15: The Prime Minister’s Office warns it will take serious action against individuals who deliberately misuse the name and position of the Prime Minister’s Office.

“Such actions are extremely irresponsible and have a negative impact on the credibility of the Prime Minister’s Office and government institutions.

“Therefore, the Prime Minister’s Office will not hesitate to take further action including legal measures against the parties displaying such conduct,” said the Prime Minister’s Office in a three-paragraph statement today.

It did not respond to the queries of journalists who questioned whether the statement was issued in response to Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong’s statement in Parliament today.

According to national daily The Star, Wee said he received a call concerning imported eggs from India from an individual, when debating on National Budget 2023 at Parliament.

Wee said he was told by the individual to issue a clarification following alleged discussions with the Prime Minister’s Office.

Perplexed by the call, Wee told the individual that he did not mention the latter’s name and his company and stressed that as an elected representative, he was just a spokesperson of the people.

The Star then reported that recently, Perikatan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Azmin Ali claimed that the government awarded the project of import eggs from India to a controversial businessman. — DayakDaily
