KUCHING, July 2: Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah expressed satisfaction in the ability of preschools and kindergartens in Sarawak to implement standard operating procedures (SOP) since their reopening.

ā€œI can see that the operators have worked hard in putting strict SOPs in place at the preschools and kindergartens that Iā€™ve visited,ā€ said the Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister during her visit to Krista Taman Centurion today.

She assured the parents not to worry whether the children were aware of social distancing because teachers and operators of these childcare centres would be there to remind them of the procedures.

ā€œWe are and we will continue to monitor if the SOPs are being complied to before, during and after each dayā€™s lessons.

ā€œWe are very concerned about this because we want to ensure that our children are in a safe and healthy learning environment,ā€ said Fatimah in her statement.

Meanwhile, Fatimah gave out Special Annual Grant (GTK) amounting to RM15,000 to Krista Taman Centurion 123 comprising three centres with approximately 200 children from the ages of four to six.

She also pointed out that 2,932 preschools and kindergartens (95 per cent) in Sarawak had applied for GTK as of June 26, 2020.

Among the applications, 2,811 of the institutions have been approved and issued the grants.ā€”DayakDaily
