Kho was addressing concerns raised by Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen regarding the status of the MASwings takeover by the Sarawak government.

She noted that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Sarawak Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin have regularly provided updates on the acquisition since its proposal two years ago.

“Announcements were made in June 2023 that a task force was set up to ensure a smooth takeover of MASwings. Premier Abang Johari, the Ministry of Transport Sarawak, and Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin have publicly shared timelines and updates on the acquisition through speeches and press statements,” Kho said.

She criticiced claims that the acquisition is “slow or non-existent,” labeling such remarks as uninformed, adding that Chong could clarify any doubts with the relevant authorities.

Kho also praised Miri MP Chiew Choon Man for addressing the issue of rising air ticket prices, stating that he would bring it up at the next parliamentary session.

Additionally, she expressed her appreciation to Federal Transport Minister Anthony Loke for discussing the air ticket price issue during a recent cabinet meeting.

“The decision to cap air ticket prices at RM599 during festive seasons is great news for Sarawakians. Loke’s actions prove that discussing these matters with the authority that regulates the aviation industry, the Federal Ministry of Transport, is the right approach,” she added. — DayakDaily
