KUCHING, Mar 10: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg witnessed the presentation of business zakat totalling RM435,033 by three subsidiaries of Yayasan Sarawak to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) during a breaking-of-fast ceremony at the Sri Pertiwi Complex here on Monday (Mar 9).
In a TVS news report, RM412,390 from Petronesa Sdn Bhd and RM12,419 from Sanjung Etika Sdn Bhd were presented by Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki to Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) president Datuk Misnu Taha.
Meanwhile, Yayasan Sarawak director Datu Mohamad Junaid Mohidin also handed over zakat amounting to RM10,224 from Pometia Sdn Bhd to the MIS.
Abang Johari, who is also the chairman of Yayasan Sarawak, together with his daughter, Dayang Norjihan, also presented duit raya to 20 of the 62 students from Yayasan Kemajuan Insan Sarawak (YAKIN) and Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School (YSISS).
The event was also attended by about 390 people from the Yayasan Sarawak Group and the Sarawak Premier’s Office. — DayakDaily
