Premier witnesses RM200k handover from Yayasan Bintulu Port to mosque welfare trust board

KUCHING, Nov 28: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also the chairman of the Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS), today witnessed the handover of RM200,000 from Yayasan Bintulu Port to LAKMNS.

According to the Sarawak Information Department (JaPen), Maslihah Tioh, general manager of Group Stakeholder Relations at Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) and chief executive officer (CEO) of Yayasan Bintulu Port, presented a symbolic mock cheque to the CEO of LAKMNS, Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai, in a ceremony at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) building.

The contribution not only aims to strengthen the strategic relationship between Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad and LAKMNS but also supports mosque development and outreach efforts through high-impact initiatives.

Maslihah also shared that with the assistance of the Islamic Religious Department (Jais) in each division, the Yayasan Bintulu Port had previously distributed contributions to 43 mosques, 42 public surau, 18 surau at premises, 10 Islamic educational institutions, as well as Special Educational Assistance for the asnaf (eligible recipients).

Also present were the Sarawak Secretary and BPHB chairman, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Deputy Minister of Economy, Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib; Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, Malaysia Agreement 1963, and Federal-State Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali; president of the Sarawak Islamic Council, Datuk Misnu Taha, representing the Sarawak Baitulmal Fund, and others. — DayakDaily
