MIRI, Jan 31: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg visited the victims of the Kampung Lereng Bukit landslide tragedy at Miri Hospital today, reports the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).
During his visit, Abang Johari consoled the victims and presented cash donations—expressing his sympathy and urging them to be steadfast in facing this ordeal while reassuring them that the Sarawak government is paying serious attention to the landslide incident in Miri.
After that, the Premier went to Kampung Lereng Bukit to inspect the conditions of the areas affected by the disaster and identify measures to ensure the residents’ safety in high-risk areas.
Abang Johari was also briefed on the chronology of the landslide incident, as well as the current situation of the incident, including the level of soil stability and the risk of possible subsequent landslides.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting were among those present. — DayakDaily
