Under the theme ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur’ (‘Progressive and Prosperous Sarawak’), this year’s celebration reflects the Sarawak government and people’s commitment to strengthening the close relationship between the government and Sarawak’s diverse communities.

He reaffirmed that the Sarawak government will continue to implement the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 to ensure inclusive socio-economic prosperity.

Abang Johari also reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing the digital economy and artificial intelligence (AI), promoting environmental sustainability, and aggressively developing key sectors, including oil and gas, plantations, tourism, and modern agriculture.

At the same time, Abang Johari emphasised Sarawak’s uniqueness as a region rooted in racial harmony, despite its rich religious and cultural diversity, and called on all Sarawakians to preserve this treasured legacy.

He further stated that quality and inclusive education are fundamental to building human capital.

“Therefore, beginning next year, free education will be provided for Sarawakian students in selected fields at State-owned universities. This aims to support learning and ease the financial burden on families,” he said.

He also reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to safeguarding Sarawak’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), calling on the people to stand united in backing this effort for the state’s future.

“May Sarawak continue to progress, prosper, and remain a model region of harmony in Malaysia. Happy Sarawak Day 2025,” he said. — DayakDaily
