KUCHING, June 15: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate the handover ceremony of the Special Financial Assistance (BKK) to Sarawak students this July.

In a TVS report, this was confirmed by Sarawak Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, when met by the media after a dialogue session at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjung Malim, Perak, on Saturday (June 14).

He stated that 41,000 applications were received after the first phase of BKK concluded, with the second phase set to begin in September.

“The approval of applications is expected to be finalised by the end of June,” he said.

On the disbursement method, Dr Annuar explained that the RM1,200 aid will be channelled via Sarawak Pay (S Pay Global), but recipients will be allowed to transfer the funds to the DuitNow app for ease of transactions.

“We were informed that not all vendors will receive payment via S Pay Global, so transferring funds to DuitNow is permitted,” he said. — DayakDaily
