Premier to lead Sarawak Merdeka convoy on 168.3km journey from Miri to Bintulu tomorrow (June 10)

MIRI, June 9: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will lead the Sarawak Merdeka convoy consisting of 268 participants in 56 four-wheel drive vehicles, 81 motorcycles, and eight buses for a distance of 168.3 kilometres from Miri to Bintulu tomorrow (June 10).

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Miri City is fully prepared for the flag-off event, which will also mark the launch of the Sarawak 60 Years Independence Digital Exhibition, featuring a range of exciting activities.

Deputy Premier Dato Sri Sim Kui Hian is expected to perform the flag-off ceremony at the Miri Indoor Stadium tomorrow morning.

During the journey, the convoy will make several stops where Abang Johari and his entourage will have the opportunity to meet and interact with the local community, fostering the spirit of unity and patriotism as Sarawak celebrates its 60 years of independence within Malaysia this year.

The first stop will be at Pantai Bungai, Subis, before proceeding to Kampung Nyalau in Bintulu.

Upon reaching Bintulu, an additional 60 vehicles, including the bikers’ community, 4WD groups, government agencies, and the private sector, will join the convoy from Kampung Nyalau to continue the journey to the next stop at Bintulu’s Naim Street Mall.

Abang Johari will officiate the digital exhibition for the Bintulu Division and witness the handover of the Sarawak flag and the Sarawak 60 Years Independence flag from Miri Division Resident Jamalie Busri to Bintulu Division Resident Nyurak Keti.

Abang Johari is scheduled to officiate a community dinner at Parkcity Everly Hotel in the evening. — DayakDaily
