KUCHING, Sept 21: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to formally announce the Sarawak government’s acquisition of Affin Bank by next week.
Abang Johari said everything is already sorted out, including matters with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

“Just wait (for the announcement) within a week,” he said when attending the 100th-anniversary celebration of Rh Entri Anak Lengkoi longhouse in Samu, Ulu Paku, Spaoh today.
He added that the acquisition of the commercial bank will become part of the Sarawak development ecosystem.
On July 30, Abang Johari revealed that BNM had granted conditional approval for the Sarawak government’s plan to increase its stake in Affin Bank. — DayakDaily
