KUCHING, Mar 28: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will chair a meeting in the near future to accelerate the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

According to Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, this was said by the Premier during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House hosted by the Office of the Premier of Sarawak held here on Friday (Mar 27).

Nanta, who is also Kapit MP, said that Abang Johari touched on the global geopolitical situation, which has had a major impact on the world economy, including conflicts in the Middle East as well as countries such as Venezuela and Iran that are closely linked to oil resources.

He also elaborated that these developments clearly demonstrate how dependence on fossil fuels can significantly affect economic stability.

“However, Sarawak is now on the right track with its transition to alternative energy such as solar power, hydrogen, and SAF.

“In addition, public transport systems such as the ART will also use hydrogen technology, in line with Sarawak’s commitment to no longer rely fully on oil resources.

“This approach is not only strategic, but also important in ensuring long-term economic stability and the well-being of the people.

“I believe the Sarawak government’s careful efforts and planning will continue to ensure that the State remains sustainable, resilient and always prioritises the welfare of its people,” said Nanta in a Facebook post. — DayakDaily
