KUCHING, Aug 5: Sarawak remains its stance on only welcoming police personnel with high integrity and free from any criminal investigations.

This was reiterated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg when asked for his comments regarding the transfer of nine police officers under investigation for being involved with extorting a businessman in Gombak, Selangor, to Sarawak and Sabah.

ā€œThe State Secretaryā€™s Office had already issued a statement the other day. That is the stance of the Sarawak government.

ā€œThe statement is very clear,ā€ he told reporters at a press conference after inaugurating the Limbang Museum on the banks of Limbang River yesterday (Aug 4).

On Wednesday (Aug 3), the Sarawak State Secretaryā€™s Office said while the Sarawak government welcomes an increase in the police force in the State to strengthen security further, it is hoped that only personnel and officers with high integrity and free from any criminal investigation are transferred to Sarawak. ā€” Dayakdaily
