KUCHING, April 27: The Sarawak government will not be spending extravagantly under my leadership, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said any revenue acquired by the Sarawak government will be channeled towards the benefit of Sarawakians.

“However, the people must also play their role and make an effort to improve their lives and increase their income,” he said during the Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri in Sebuyau today.

According to Abang Johari, Sarawak’s revenue hit a record high of RM13 billion last year, as its revenue for 2024 continues to show positive signs based on the current figures.

“We have another eight months and if this is the case, there will be no problem.

“But we also need to save for our future, and that is why we have our Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund for rainy days,” he added. — DayakDaily
