KUCHING, Sept 16: Sarawak continues to make significant strides in various sectors after 61 years within Malaysia, with the current focus on generating a sustainable economy based on new resources and digital economy.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said this new approach is based on the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) which is anchored on three main pillars, namely economic prosperity, social inclusivity and environmental sustainability, with the aim of making Sarawak a high-income developed region by 2030.

ā€œAlhamdulillah, Sarawak is moving forward with existing strengths and superior achievements where Sarawak was recognised by the World Bank as a high-income region last year.

ā€œI sincerely hope that the economic development will continue rapidly and the harmony of the people of various religions and races in Sarawak will continue to last in the future with the spirit of ā€˜Segulai Sejalaiā€™ built on the basis of mutual respect,ā€ he said in his Malaysia Day message today.

He also congratulated the Sarawak-level Malaysia Day 2024 Organising Committee led by Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn for this yearā€™s celebration.

He believed the celebration’s theme of ā€˜Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdekaā€™ demonstrates a special call for all Malaysians to strengthen and appreciate the true meaning of independence in the soul and identity of every Malaysian who loves their country.

ā€œHappy Malaysia Day to all the people of Sarawak. May our bond of unity continue to be strong with a high spirit of comradeship in a joint effort to advance Sarawak and the country and also produce a Madani generation that has a high sense of identity and is always loyal to the motherland,ā€ he emphasised. ā€” DayakDaily
