“Jiangsu is highly skilled in modern waste management technology. As I always say, do not waste waste—generate value from it,” he said during a press conference after signing the Kuching Low-Carbon Hub framework agreement and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with investors at the China Jiangsu International Economic Technology Cooperation Group Ltd (CJI) Headquarters in Nanjing, China yesterday (Dec 11).

He emphasised that Sarawak and Jiangsu have a solid foundation to broaden cooperation, particularly in capacity-building and knowledge exchange.

“Jiangsu is among the most advanced provinces in China, including through the success of the Suzhou Industrial Park developed jointly with Singapore,” he said.

Abang Johari noted that the partnership between Jiangsu and Sarawak holds unique strengths that will support the State’s long-term development goals.

“With the understanding between the Jiangsu government and us, I believe it will accelerate what we have prepared for 2030.

“In fact, it may go beyond 2030, which is important for our younger generation. That is why the strategies in Sarawak have been outlined,” he said.

He reiterated that Sarawak’s development strategy is centred on preparing young people to become key contributors in the transition towards a low-carbon and green economy. — DayakDaily
