Premier reiterates RM5.6 bln for Sarawak in Budget 2023 to prioritise infrastructure improvements

The Premier of Sarawak and his wife wish all Sarawakians Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

KUCHING, April 21: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg reiterates that the RM5.6 billion allocated to Sarawak in Budget 2023, presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, will be prioritised for efforts to improve the region’s facilities such as roads, clinics, and schools.

Abang Johari explained that, while the allocation is insufficient, it should be used as efficiently as possible to provide comfort to the people.

“With the region’s income expected to rise further, the Sarawak government will also continue road construction and complete rural utility development such as electricity and water supply,” he said in his Hari Raya Aidilfitri message.

The Premier went on to say that for people of different races and religions in Sarawak, festivals like Hari Raya Aidilfitri have become a way for them to share their joy and happiness with people of other races.

“It’s similar to how Chinese New Year, Gawai Dayak, or Christmas are enlivened by the practice of visiting.

“I hope that the atmosphere of harmony will continue to be intertwined in strengthening the atmosphere of unity among the various races and religions on this ‘Land of the Hornbills’,” he added.

Abang Johari continued, “Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin, and may we be blessed with prosperity and good health.”

Meanwhile, Abang Johari and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang will be hosting an open house on the first and second day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) in Kuching. — DayakDaily
