KUCHING, Nov 18: Puan Sri Datin Amar Lim Su Kheng, the mother of Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, was today remembered for her profound contributions to the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (Sabati), especially in advancing community-based initiatives and supporting social welfare efforts across the State.
Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who led members of the Sarawak Cabinet to pay their final respects at Dr Sim’s residence in Kenyalang Park, said Lim played an important role in Sabati during the tenure of her late husband, former Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Sim Kheng Hong.
He said Lim was instrumental in supporting her husband’s responsibilities as both a State leader and elected representative, while at the same time extending her warmth and dedication to the wider community through Sabati’s many outreach and charitable programmes.
“Puan Sri was very kind to the people and especially to us in Sabati. We have lost a member who contributed greatly to the roles carried out by the wives of ministers,” he said, noting that her involvement strengthened Sabati’s efforts in community development and welfare work.

Abang Johari added that Lim’s support and guidance were deeply appreciated by the Cabinet members’ spouses, particularly during her active years in the association.
“My colleagues and I certainly feel her passing. During her time in Sabati, she helped us immensely in our community work,” he said.
The Premier also extended condolences to Dr Sim and his family, praying that they will be granted patience and strength through this difficult time.
“Once again, on behalf of the Cabinet, I express our deepest condolences to the family of Datuk Amar Dr Sim,” he said.
