Premier presents RM56,000 in MRP grants to Gedong mosques, surau

KUCHING, April 8: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on Saturday night (April 6) presented RM56,000 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants to 10 mosques and 13 surau in Gedong at a Gedong district-level breaking-of-fast event held at Masjid Al Kawthar, Simunjan.

Approximately 300 less fortunate individuals (‘asnaf’) were also treated to a breaking-of-fast and dinner at the same event, according to a post on the Premier of Sarawak’s official Facebook page, ‘Sarawakku’.

Abang Johari, who is Gedong assemblyman, also performed Maghrib, Isyak, and Tarawih prayers at the mosque together with those present.

The event was attended by various dignitaries and officials, including Utility and Telecommunication Minister Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee, Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Datu Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Samarahan Resident Mohammad Irwan Bahari Bujang, Lembaga Tabung Haji Sarawak director Amat Kassim Pait, and event organising chairman Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais. — DayakDaily
