KUCHING, Sept 12: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has commended Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for elevating Malaysia’s image on the international stage through his commitment to diplomacy and peace-building.

He noted that Anwar’s role in helping to ease tensions between Cambodia and Thailand has earned global recognition, proving that peace remains a key objective of Malaysia’s foreign policy under his leadership.

“Due to the Prime Minister’s efforts in addressing the Cambodia-Thailand issue, the world has acknowledged Malaysia as a champion of peace.

“I also heard the Prime Minister’s stand on what happened in Qatar, which was blatant in disregarding sovereignty and peace.

“That is why we believe the Prime Minister has successfully raised Malaysia’s image as a fighter for peace at the international level,” Abang Johari said in his speech during a dinner with Anwar held at a local hotel last night (Sept 11).

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, and Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi. — DayakDaily
