Premier leads S’wak delegation to explore energy ties with Japan’s INPEX

KUCHING, Dec 18: Sarawak is exploring potential collaboration with Japan’s largest exploration and production company, INPEX Corporation, in oil and gas, renewable energy and carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS).

This initiative follows a meeting today in Tokyo between Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and INPEX Corporation President and CEO Takayuki Ueda, Senior Vice President for Asia Projects Akihiro Watanabe, and INPEX Malaysia Representative and General Manager Tatsuya Konishi.

According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), INPEX Corporation is actively engaged in projects across various continents, focusing on enhancing the sustainability of its oil and gas operations while expanding its five net-zero business domains.

The company is committed to delivering a diverse and clean energy supply, including oil, natural gas, hydrogen, ammonia, and renewable energy, positioning itself as a global leader in energy transformation.

The Sarawak Premier was accompanied by Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, Sarawak Attorney General Dato Sri Saferi Ali, Sarawak Financial Secretary Dato Sri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, Deputy Sarawak Secretary for Economic Planning and Development Dato Sri Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) chairman Dato Ibrahim Baki, and other senior Sarawak government officials. —DayakDaily
