Premier leads Sarawak govt delegation for official work visit in Leeds in UK

LEEDS, April 20: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, along with the State government delegation, have arrived in Leeds as part of an official working visit to the United Kingdom (UK).

According to a report by TVS, Abang Johari, who was accompanied by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, safely arrived at a hotel accommodation in Leeds at 10.30pm local time.


On Monday (April 22), Abang Johari will lead the delegation to visit the Drax Power Station, an energy plant generated through wooden pallets with a generating capacity of 3,960 megawatts (Mw).

The visit is to gain exposure to the use of technology in the production of renewable energy by using wood resources.

Next, the Premier and his entourage will continue their working visit to London to witness the signing and exchange of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between SMD Semiconductor and CSA Catapult in the House of Commons, UK Parliament on Tuesday (April 23).

On Wednesday (April 24), Abang Johari will go to Poland to attend the Hydrogen Technology Forum, where he will participate in the ‘Debate Regions for the Planet’ session to share Sarawak’s perspective towards the transition to renewable energy and environmental sustainability. — DayakDaily
