KUCHING, June 12: Sarawak is set to have a ‘bountiful harvest’ by the end of this year, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
According to Abang Johari, Second Finance Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas mentioned during the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting recently that Sarawak has collected RM5 billion in revenue in the first quarter of the year.
“That is just for the first quarter. We hope by the end of the year we will have a bountiful harvest in terms of economic development for us to share with the rakyat,” he said during the Gawai Dayak Open House organised by the Office of Premier of Sarawak (OPS) held at DUN complex here today.
He added that the revenue will also become a foundation for the Sarawak government to give back to the people through Sarawak’s development policy, which is rural-biased and people-centric, including towards its goals as a high-income State by 2030.
Also present were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian; DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; and other distinguished guests. — DayakDaily
