KUCHING, Oct 31: The long-standing gas distribution dispute between Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) and Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) has officially been resolved, announced Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
According to Abang Johari, Petronas has agreed in principle that Petros will serve as the sole gas aggregator for Sarawak.
“We will continue our efforts as an aggregator,” he said, adding that while further details are to be discussed, the agreement solidifies Petros’ central role in Sarawak’s gas management.
Abang Johari shared this update during a Deepavali visit to the residence of Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) president Dato DrKalwinder Singh Khaira at Sky Garden.
He noted that Sarawak’s Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, had received an informal notification, with an official letter confirming the arrangement to follow.
This resolution comes after the Sarawak government set a three-month deadline for Petronas to resolve gas distribution issues with Petros on July 28. — DayakDaily
