KUCHING, May 23: Hundreds of residents joined Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg in a brisk walk from Tanjung Batu to the Bintulu Planetarium Centre (Pusat Falak Bintulu) as the second day of the Sarawakku Sayang 2026 Bintulu Programme went underway today.
In a report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the Premier arrived as early as 7am, where he was given a warm welcome by members of the public who had gathered to participate in the programme.
The programme was organised to encourage healthy living while providing an opportunity for the State leadership to engage with the people in a more relaxed and approachable environment.
After completing the brisk walk, Abang Johari proceeded to Farley Food Court for a breakfast session with guests and members of the public.
He took time to mingle with local residents, visitors and traders, creating a lively and friendly atmosphere.
During the visit, the Premier also witnessed transactions under the Sarawak Basic Needs Assistance (SKAS) programme involving three recipients, underscoring the State government’s commitment to ensuring welfare initiatives continue to reach those in need.
Also present were Minister for Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Sarawak Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom; the Minister in the Premier’s Department Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai; the Minister for Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Sarawak Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah; the Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; and other dignitaries. — DayakDaily
