Premier breaks fast with Yayasan Sarawak group, presents duit raya to children

KUCHING, March 28: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, participated in a breaking of fast session tonight with approximately 1,000 people from the Sarawak Foundation (Yayasan Sarawak) group at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here.

According to a press release, Abang Johari, who is also the chairman of Yayasan Sarawak, witnessed the symbolic handover of ‘zakat’ (almsgiving) in the form of mock cheques for RM426,762 and RM53,938 from Kumpulan Petronesa Sdn Bhd and Syarikat Sanjung Etika Sdn Bhd, respectively, where the ‘akad’ (contract) was read by Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.

Meanwhile, ‘zakat’ of RM16,140 was handed over by Pometia Sdn Bhd, with Tuan Mersal Abang Rosli reading the ‘akad’.

The symbolic handing over of ‘zakat’ was presented to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) general manager Datu Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie.

In addition, the Premier and his wife presented a symbolic donation of duit raya to 50 children from Yayasan Kemajuan Insan Sarawak (YAKIN), Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School (YSISS) Petra Jaya and Kuching, as well as the children of Yayasan Sarawak staff. — DayakDaily
