Premier begins Miri visit with Friday prayers at Masjid At-Taqwa, engages with local community

KUCHING, Apr 24: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg performed Friday prayers at Masjid At-Taqwa Miri shortly after arriving in the city at 12.15pm today.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, he was welcomed by congregants and local leaders, who also took the opportunity to interact and engage with the Premier.

As part of his visit, he is also scheduled to attend a dinner with community leaders and grassroots leader later today, which would serve as a platform to strengthen ties between the state government and the local community.

Tomorrow (Apr 25), he is expected to officiate the Sarawakku Sayang Programme for the Miri Division, which aims to enhance public well-being and further strengthen the state’s development agenda.

Among those present were Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, DBKU, and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi; Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (Higher Education and Innovation) Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee; Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni; as well as heads of departments, community leaders, and local leadership. — DayakDaily
