KUCHING, May 31: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, accompanied by his daughter Dayang Norjihan, attended the wedding reception of the children of Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol, held at Dewan Majma’ Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah here last night.
The Premier was warmly received by Abdullah and his wife Datin Nora Ashikin Ibrahim upon arrival, in an evening that brought together family members, friends and State leaders in a vibrant celebration.
The reception marked the union of their daughter Damia Nur Abdullah with Mustafa Kamal Yahya, as well as their son Leftenan Danishafiq Abdullah with Nur Nadirah Adnan.
Both couples had earlier solemnised their marriages in Peninsular Malaysia before hosting the reception in Kuching.
A notable highlight of the evening was the strong Melanau cultural identity showcased throughout the event, from the hall’s traditional-inspired decorations to the carefully curated menu featuring authentic delicacies such as umai, ikan lumek, udang sesar and sago, which received warm appreciation from guests.
The celebration, attended by around 800 guests, was further enlivened with cultural performances and a special skit, before local artiste Bob Yusof and other performers took to the stage, adding colour and festive energy to the occasion.
Among those present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and wife Dato Enn Ong; Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Federal Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi; Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi; Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah. — DayakDaily
