KUCHING, Dec 14: The Apau Koyan Cultural Festival 2024 created history with two entries in the Elite World Records.
According to a news report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, the records are for the largest sape sculpture crafted from recycled metals and the most participants in a traditional Orang Ulu music and dance performance.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari lauded the efforts, saying it shows that Sarawak values its cultural heritage while highlighting it on the global stage.
“Ethnic diversity, especially in Belaga, is a symbol of unity in a harmonious, developed, and prosperous Sarawak in line with the spirit of ‘Sejulai Sejalai’.
“Therefore, I call on all Sarawakians to continue to strengthen the culture of unity and cooperation, because it is the key to a brighter future, for us today and generations to come,” said Abang Johari whose text speech was read by Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang.
Liwan represented Abang Johari in officiating the Apau Koyan Cultural Festival 2024 held in Sungai Asap recently.
Earlier on, Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon thanked Sarawak Energy for its contribution of RM300,000 through its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
