Premier Abang Johari takes on patron role at Sarawak Heart Foundation

KUCHING, June 16: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has been appointed as patron of the Sarawak Heart Foundation.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, this followed a courtesy call from the delegation from the foundation at the Satria Pertiwi Complex in Petra Jaya here today.

The delegation was led by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian, who presented the official letter appointing the Premier as patron of the Sarawak Heart Foundation effective April 15. Dr Sim was also appointed chairman of the foundation on the same day.

The visit also served to introduce the foundation’s board of trustees to the Premier in his capacity as the new patron of the organisation.

Representatives of the foundation presented the official appointment letter as a gesture of appreciation and recognition of his leadership in supporting efforts to enhance public healthcare in the State.

During the meeting, discussions touched on the role and direction of the Sarawak Heart Foundation in raising public awareness on heart health, preventing cardiovascular diseases, and implementing educational and welfare programmes that benefit the people of Sarawak.

The visit provided a platform to strengthen collaboration between the Sarawak Heart Foundation and the Sarawak government in expanding public health initiatives and advancing the people’s well-being through various programmes and activities planned for the future.

The foundation also expressed its appreciation for the Premier’s willingness to accept the appointment as patron, noting that his involvement would further strengthen the foundation’s role and credibility in promoting heart health and healthy lifestyles among communities throughout Sarawak.

Also present during the visit were Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development and foundation trustee Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, trustee Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu, and other distinguished guests.

Meanwhile, in another news report, Abang Johari also received a courtesy call from the State-Level Gawai Dayak celebration main committee, where Deputy Premier and committee chairman, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, extended an official invitation to the Premier to attend the programme scheduled to take place this weekend (June 20-21).

Abang Johari is set to be the guest of honour at the Niti Daun procession along Kuching Waterfront on June 20.

He is also set to attend the State-level Gawai Dayak dinner the following day (June 21), which will also see the attendance of Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
