KUCHING, Jan 4: A fire destroyed one house and damaged two others in an early morning blaze at Taman Beverly Garden along Jalan Kuching Serian today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an emergency call at 3.53am regarding the incident, and firefighters from the Siburan station were deployed to the scene, with assistance from the Kota Sentosa and Batu Lintang stations.
According to the report by Bomba, the fire involved three permanent houses, each measuring approximately 20 by 40 square feet.
“The first house was destroyed, with 10 occupants registered at the address.
“The second house sustained about 60 per cent damage, while the third house was damaged by about 40 per cent. Six occupants were recorded at the third house, while details of occupants at the second house were unavailable,” said the report.
Four vehicles were also destroyed in the fire—a Toyota Unser, a Perodua Viva, a Yamaha LC 135 motorcycle and a Yamaha 100 motorcycle.
Firefighters carried out extinguishing operations using relay pumping over 300 feet with three nozzles, drawing water supply from a Kota Sentosa fire engine.
Overhaul works were conducted to ensure there was no remaining danger and that the situation was fully under control.
