KUCHING, March 27: The ground floor of the three-storey Jun Rong Warehouse Sdn Bhd at the Jalan Serian By-Pass was burnt down in a fire at pre-dawn today.
A report on the fire was received at around 5.39am this morning before the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Serian and Bomba Siburan were dispatched to the site.
According to a statement from Bomba, the smoke from the fire was too thick that the firefighters could not reach the first and second floor to put out the fire.
Bomba Serian had to deploy one unit each of Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS), together with seven other firefighters led by PBK II Sim Mun Chai.
Bomba Siburan, on the other hand, made use of one unit of Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) with five firefighters under the lead of PBK II Valentine Samy.
After much struggle by both teams, the operation commander announced that the fire was under control at 9.52am, followed by some overhaul activities. —DayakDaily
