Police setting up roadblock at Sentosa Resettlement Scheme

SIBU, Feb 27: It’s all systems go for the enforcement of Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at Sentosa Resettlement Scheme, Phase 2 area to curb the spread of Covid-19.

EMCO for the area from 12.01am on Feb 27 to 11.59pm on Mar 12 at Sentosa, Phase 2, includes Jalan Sentosa, Jalan Sentosa Timur and Lorong Sentosa Utara 7.

Immediately on the next day after Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee (Sibu DDMC) announced the EMCO on Thursday night (Feb 25), police had set up two roadblocks to ban people’s movement from the housing estate.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the two roadblocks are at the intersection of Jalan Sentosa-Salim (near the football field) and at the intersection of Sentosa traffic light (Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi).

The intersection of Jalan Bukit Lima-Sentosa and Lorong 7, Jalan Sentosa, will be closed tonight, he said, adding that they were assisted by Sibu Municipal Council (SMC), and Sibu Health Department.

“We have also set up tents at four points. From midnight tonight, all residents are advised to remain where they are and don’t step out of the area for the duration of the EMCO,” he said.

ACP Stanley said that all residents will have their swab tests soonest which will be conducted by the Health Ministry.

During this period, food will be sent to all affected residents.

Sentosa has recorded 117 cases so far. —DayakDaily
