KUCHING, Sept 5: The police will continue to maintain a constant presence at various residential and commercial areas as well as other areas that are prone to crime.

“With the presence of the police, it will give assurance to the communities that regardless of where they go, they can feel safe,” said MP Bandar Kuching Dr Kelvin Yii.

Speaking to reporters during his visit to Kenyalang Market with Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong and several police officers from Sekama police station today, he added that today’s patrol is not a one-time event.

“Under the ‘Ops Omnipresence’, through patrolling, the police will have a stronger presence including in areas that are categorised as ‘hotspot’ where there have been many crime cases recorded. We have also discussed with the police on ways and campaigns to improve our community’s safety,” Dr Yii added.

He also urged for more of such ops to be conducted in other cities and welcomed close cooperation between the people and the police force, to jointly organise various crime prevention activities to raise public awareness. ā€” DayakDaily
