SIBU, June 13: Sibu police seized over RM400,000 in illicit drugs from an apartment in Jalan Wong King Huo early yesterday morning.
Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said a 21-year-old local man was arrested at about 2.15am by a police team from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department.
“An inspection carried out found 71 coloured plastic packets with “Juice Master” printed on them containing powder suspected to be a mixture of Ecstacy (gross weight 2,294 grammes), 1,511 pills of various types suspected to be Ecstacy (gross weight 566.73 grammes), 43 transparent plastic packets containing crystal powder suspected to be Ketamine (gross weight 273 grammes) and 26 white plastic packets containing yellowish lumps and white powder suspected to be Ecstacy (gross weight 25,447 grammes).
“The seizure is estimated at RM402,052,” he said at a press conference.
Zulkipli said the police had also confiscated a four-wheel-drive vehicle worth RM146,000.
The suspect has also tested positive for methamphetamine.
“The suspect has three previous drug-related cases and was subsequently arrested under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act (ADB) 1952 and Section 15(1) of the ADB 1952 and remanded for seven days to assist in the investigation,” Zulkipli said.
Section 39B ADB 1952 carries a mandatory death sentence by hanging to death if convicted.
Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act, is a fine of not more than RM5,000 and imprisonment of not more than two years or both and supervision for two years under Section 38B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — DayakDaily
