During the raids, a 52-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were arrested, resulting in the confiscation of drugs worth RM532,934.40, comprising 7,086.7 grammes of syabu, 2,078.9 grammes of ketamine, and 2,022.6 grammes of Erimin 5 pills, which are enough to supply 49,702 users.

In addition, assets estimated to be worth RM7,997,450 were also seized, which included cash amounting to RM5,157,450, four gold bars, two gold necklaces, three Rolex watches, and three cars—a Lexus RX350F Sport, a Lexus ES250, and a Toyota Vios.

The estimated cost of the drugs and assets confiscated is RM8,530,384.40.

Also confiscated for investigation are a bank card, keys, and drug packaging equipment.

Investigations found that both suspects were behind a drug syndicate in Sibu that has been operating since 2015.

“They obtained their supplies from Peninsular Malaysia using courier services, and the drugs confiscated were meant to be distributed in the local market,” he said.

He added that both suspects tested negative for drugs, had no prior records, and have been detained since June 13 to carry out a seven-day remand period until June 20 to assist in the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a death sentence or life imprisonment with not less than 12 strokes of the cane if convicted.

“Those with information on drug-related activities are urged to come forward by contacting 012-2087222,” he said. — DayakDaily
