SIBU, Feb 16: Police are actively hunting for an individual who allegedly committed a burglary at Lorong Merdeka 16 early Tuesday morning.
Acting Sibu District Police Chief, Supt Dr Collin Babat said, the police had dusted down the house and uncovered fingerprints from the sliding door located at the rear of the complainant’s house.
According to him, the fingerprints will be sent to the Sarawak IPK Criminal Investigation Department for further action.
He said the 40-year-old complainant had lodged a police report after finding his house was in a state of disarray and the sliding door was damaged.
The victim reported that several of his belongings were missing. They were a 43-inch television set, an Astro decoder, a gold chain, two handphones, a flute and RM400.
“The estimated loss reported by the complainant due to the theft is about RM3,800,” he said.
He said at the time of the crime, the complainant and his family were not at home as they would only be at home on weekends and school holidays.
Collin said the last time the complainant left the house was at 10.30pm on Feb 13 and the house was in good condition.
“The police investigation at the scene found that the suspect was believed to have entered the house through a sliding back door,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for burglary and theft. — DayakDaily
