He said police identified all the individuals involved in the video.

“Seven children aged between eight and 13 were found to be involved in the incident. All of them are friends and often play together,” he said.

He added that the fight was believed to have started after a female child, who was the victim, taunted one of the suspects using abusive language, causing the other children to become upset.

“The victim was then kicked and pushed by the other children involved,” he said.

He said the child who was assaulted in the video did not suffer any serious injuries, and that the victim’s father lodged a police report on Sept 17 at about 2.40pm.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and is being handled by Inspector Rayhan Albert.

Meanwhile, the public has been advised against speculating or spreading sensitive issues on social media that could cause concern in the local community.

Members of the public with information related to criminal activities are encouraged to lodge a report at any nearby police station or contact the Miri District Police Headquarters at 085-433730. — DayakDaily
