After turning back to check on her, the students found the toddler crying for her mother while clutching a feeding bottle, a blue towel, and a small beaded basket.

Samarahan District Acting Police Chief DSP Barry William confirmed the incident today, saying investigators have since located the toddler’s family members.

“An active investigation is underway to determine the circumstances that led to the child being left unattended near a major roadway, and statements are currently being recorded,” he said.

Following the rescue, the toddler was taken to the Samarahan District Police Headquarters before being referred to the emergency department of Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further assessment.

Medical personnel have confirmed that the child remains under observation as a precautionary measure, while welfare authorities have also been informed and are monitoring the case in collaboration with police. — DayakDaily
