Police nab man suspected of attempted arson at longhouse

MIRI, March 6: A man form a longhouse in Sepupok, Niah, has been detained by police after he attempted to burn down his ‘bilik’ during a fight with his wife.

According to sources, the wife, in her early 30s, lodged a police report yesterday after the suspect was believed to have poured liquid believed to be petrol in their longhouse unit following an altercation earlier.

The suspect fled the scene and it was understood that he managed to take away his wife’s bank card and damaged her mobile phone.

It was also said that a check made by the wife with the bank discovered cash amounting RM300 had disappeared.

It was believed that the suspect might be involved in drug related activities. — DayakDaily
