KUCHING, June 21: A 47-second video clip allegedly showing a Form One student being bullied and assaulted by four male students from the same secondary school in Kota Samarahan on June 19 has gone viral on social media.
According to Kota Samarahan District police chief DSP Brodie Brangka, the victim lodged a police report at about 5.08pm on the day of the incident.
Acting on the report, the police conducted an investigation and found that the incident took place behind a block of shops at Taman Desa Permai in Kota Samarahan here.
In a statement today, Brodie comfirmed that all four students suspected of involvement in the bullying case were identified and brought to the Kota Samarahan police station to facilitate further investigation and subsequent action.
Brodie emphasised that the school administration has also been notified of the incident, which is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing injury.
The offence carries a maximum penalty of one year imprisonment or with a fine of up to RM2,000 or both, if found guilty.
The police warned the public against sharing the video clip or making any speculation regarding the incident to prevent any interference with the ongoing investigation. — DayakDaily
