KUCHING, Jan 5: Police are intensifying efforts to locate a 63-year-old man reported missing after leaving his home in Kuching since Sunday (Jan 4).
According to a TVS news report, Sri Aman District Police Chief Superintendent Dennis Bunyam said a report was received at about 2.33pm today and immediate action was taken to trace the man.
Initial investigations found that the man, identified as Celsus Khaw Choon Seng, left his residence alone at around 4pm yesterday in a white Perodua Alza and was heading to Sri Aman for personal matters.
“Police teams have conducted field investigations, including tracking the movements of the man and identifying the likely routes he took before being reported missing,” he said.
Efforts were stepped up after a vehicle believed to belong to the man was found in the Batang Lupar River, Jalan Skait, Sri Aman, prompting the launch of a search and rescue (SAR) operation.
Police are also reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, gathering information from witnesses and the public, and issuing alerts to nearby police stations to support the search.
“Police will not compromise in locating the man and the operation will continue until he is found,” he added.
