KUCHING, Oct 26: In conjunction with this year’s Sarawak International Dragon Boat Regatta and the Sarawak Regatta which will be held from Oct 27 to Oct 27 and Nov 3 to Nov 5 respectively at the Kuching Waterfront, the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching) has announced that there will be security and traffic control as well as a ban on drones during the events.
In a press statement issued today, Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah stated that a total of 22 senior officers and 259 officers, including the drone unit and marine forces, will be mobilised.
A total of 20 Coordination and Support Services Unit (UPKS) officers, 12 Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM) officers, 23 Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) officers, 58 Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) officers, 40 People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) members, and 28 Ministry of Health (KKM) members will also be participating.
“People are reminded not to fly drones without the approval of the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) during the programmes.
“All drone operating activities in Malaysia are subject to Section 4 of the Civil Aviation Act 1969 (Act 3), Regulation 8, 140-144, Malaysian Civil Aviation Regulations (MCAR 2016) and Civil Aviation Directives (CADs),” he noted. — DayakDaily
